Equipment

A ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) and/or a submersible are maybe onboard (to be confirmed later) but the pupils will not directly have access to these. Multibeam/echosounder, corers, benthic chambers, Video image analyser, etc. are also onboard.

Equipment used by pupils will be dependent on the activities to be performed, under supervision of scientists. Pupils may read simplified information about the equipment/methods here:

Some reference materials, methodology handouts, identification books, etc will also be made available to the pupils onboard Polarstern.
